X-Mode’s location platform maps over 10% of the US population monthly. Our panel powers attribution and customer segment based solutions for over 25+ companies in the ad-tech, fin-tech, market research, and real estate.
This same platform allows us to create unique consumer offerings that help solve problems with college and family safety, as well as fitness “motivation”.
To build our 100 million device graph, we are both activating and building new location assets via our SDK and through creation of our own apps. Over the next 3-5 years, we hope to build a graph of 100 million users to map out 33% of the U.S. Population.
In the past 2 years, with a combination of our partners plus owned and operated apps, we’ve been able to acquire a total of 8 million+ users in the U.S. while pulling location in real-time.

Most use cases for X-Mode data have been built around measurement and attribution due to the quality of data, depth of data collection, and the fact X-Mode observes a Device ID for 15+ days on end.
Some of the best use cases X-Mode has seen around retargeting have come from premium based segments such as phone insurance, electronics, gym memberships, furniture and B2B based audiences as well.
X-Mode’s data is best used for hyper-targeting audiences.
Data Sources & Collection
X-Mode leverages deterministic data from our 1st party SDK (or our 1st party S2S partners who leverage a similar data collection methodology as our SDK) to build our location collection methodology and visitation algorithm, with no lookalike audiences.
The majority of our location data panel is leveraging our first party SDK. We do work with S2S partners who have first-party SDKs that are similar in our algorithm. They do not provide watered-down location data such as bidstream data.
Direct app publisher relationships. No ad-based or bid stream data.
Using X-Mode’s location SDK (XDK), location is collected every 5 minutes to create the perfect visit/dwell time - with 70% of that data being within a 20 meter accuracy. We use filters around speed, bearing, and vertical accuracy to cut out unnecessary “noise” in the data. Our XDK data is sourced directly from apps with explicit user consent, which means no bid-stream or ad-based data. We also only focus on apps that have a real use case for running location.
App publishers sign 2-4 year exclusive agreements with X-Mode meaning you won’t find this data at scale anywhere else. By focusing on uniqueness, privacy, and location use-case, we have successfully thrived in the EU after GDPR. We’re also prepared for the upcoming CCPA legislation around user consent - we’re transparent with users on how/why data is being licensed to 3rd parties. With X-Mode, you will not have to worry about your data disappearing in 2020.
While most companies are only focused on the US and Canada, X-Mode is focused on providing the best data set for audiences globally (US, Canada, EU-5, APAC, and LATAM). As one of the largest first-party suppliers of location data in these markets, we are able to provide global privacy-conscious products similar to our US offerings. We don’t try to increase scale by adding bid-stream data. Instead, we work with the best local apps to have a scalable audience for programmatic.
