Description

CustomWeather runs a unique Cloud Weather Services (details below) that houses historical, satellite-derived data from the robust ERA-5 set. Using the ERA-5 data, we can deliver historical solar energy data in hourly and daily time steps going back to 1980 for any global location. 9-km resolution.
CustomWeather offers the following two hourly and daily, historical solar data variables globally, at 9-km resolution, dating back to 2012: Surface Net Radiation Surface Downward Solar Radiation CustomWeather offers the following four hourly and daily, historical solar data variables globally, at 25-km resolution, dating back to 1980: Surface Downward Short-Wave Radiation Flux (Avg. of the past hour) UV-B Downward Solar Flux (Avg. of the past hour) Surface Downward Solar Radiation Surface Total Sky Direct Solar Radiation Other key variables for historical solar data analytics include: Dry Bulb Temperature Relative Humidity Sky Coverage Wind speed (m/sec) Wind direction Cloud Weather Services CustomWeather’s Cloud Weather Services is a restful web service based around gridded historic and forecasts data sets, allowing point or netCDF extraction for solar data variables as outlined above. The format delivery from the Cloud Weather Services can be JSON, XML, ASCII, or netCDF. Any of the models and variables seen in the Cloud Weather Services inventory can be delivered in netCDF or grib2 format. We can also deliver the raw model data via HTTPS in a hierarchical format with XML headers. CustomWeather delivers hourly, solar radiation forecasts for any global location going out 8 days, and three-hourly solar forecasts for days 9 to 16. The forecasts deliver the measure of solar radiation energy received on a given surface area from incoming short-wave solar radiation or ‘insolation’. Deliverable variables are the average irradiance in watts per square meter (W/m2), short- wave downward, short-wave upward, net short-wave, long-wave downward, long-wave upward, and net long-wave radiation. Updated 4 times per day.
