  2. First-party consumer purchase data: First-party consumer purchase data comes from tracking your website and is usually called engagement data. Many marketing automation programs have created first-party consumer purchase data for more than a decade now and most marketers have access to it. First-party consumer purchase data can be anonymous, meaning there’s no name connected with the record, or it can be known, meaning the person has filled out a form and has given their name and contact information.

  3. Third-Party consumer purchase: Third-party consumer purchase data is a much newer field. While marketing automation traces your own web properties, third-party consumer purchase data providers can trace cookies and information from sites other than your own.
