“VayuAI used Custom Weather data as a component of its run for optimization of 383 US wind farms to determine overall potential additional energy production available from existing farms if they used VayuAI control strategies for turbulent conditions. Results show overall power production increase of 5%+ from a potential complete deployment on all US wind farms.”

“As an insurance provider, we use them to warn our customers about upcoming severe weather events (floods, hail, storms). We also use historical data to enrich our underwriting models. Finally we use them to verify whether an incident took place at a specific location, so that we can review natural phenomena claims. ”

“I have extensive experience using CustomWeather's data in my research. For New York City, their day-ahead temperature forecasts are more accurate than the National Weather Service's. Two of the presentations I made at the 2021 Annual Conference of the American Meteorological Society made use of CustomWeather's data. My 2020 peer-reviewed article on wind energy forecasting in Great Britain made use of their data. My recent presentation in Germany made use of their data. In short, I recommend CustomWeather with sincere enthusiasm. ”

Agriculture: Climate change is largely irreversible over the short to medium term and agriculture is the industry most affected. Use historical precipitation and temperature data over defined periods as valuable inputs for future predictions based on AI algorithms. Track changes in temperature over weeks, months, and years.

Retail: Retailers can use historic weather data to forecast supply and demand for specific locations and to determine best marketing and manning practices. Weather data to calculate the weather’s effects on store traffic and seasonal inventory levels. Historic data can be used to understand how weather has impacted critical business processes. Data can also be used to gain a better understanding of unusual spikes or drops in customer demand.

Construction: Historic wind, temperature, precipitation, and lightning data can be used to determine future project sites and to select equipment for the build. Identify weather risks for projects during the planning stage. Data can be used as an aid in determining project costs, best time frames for building, project manning, and scheduling. Minimize price risk.

Transportation: Improve decision making by using historical weather data to gauge future transport timing.

Energy: Use historical weather information as an input to model best people and resource placement in advance of impactful weather. Building operations managers can use historic weather data to gauge future energy usage and to tune and control energy use

Data Sources & Collection

CustomWeather utilizes extremely localized terrain and transpiration data. We work with large networks of local weather stations including the MADIS network of cooperative weather stations. CustomWeather runs a proprietary high resolution forecast model, the USL model, at 100-meter resolution worldwide. The USL model is initialized off an ensemble of NWP models including the GFS, NAM, HRRR, SREF, Gridded MOS, GDPS, and WRF.

Key Differentiators

CustomWeather provides weather data in over 85 languages. Our historic data is the most comprehensive and includes data dating back further into the past than other providers. We are the only weather data provider with a Cloud Weather Service. This allows our users to make very specific request for data, including uncommon and harder to find variables, for dates back in time, for any point on the globe.

Data Privacy

CustomWeather’s technical staff will immediately notify their designated client counterparts by telephone or e-mail when a security incident(s) is detected, so that the client may take steps to determine whether its system has been compromised and to take appropriate security precautions. The client will receive formal notification in writing within five (5) business days after detection of any cyber security incident(s).

CustomWeather performs checks of access logs, which includes records of all read, write, and create events, as well as the day/time, the user, and the action the user was attempting (i.e., read, write, create). Any unsuccessful login attempts are also recorded.

CustomWeather ensures that its users, administrators and policy controllers are educated in respect to their security duties.
