S&P Global Market Intelligence is committed to complying with data privacy laws and we take our legal obligations and the secure and proper treatment of our customers’ personal data very seriously. We began preparatory work on the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) over 12 months ago and have been operating an internal GDPR Working Group. We conducted an extensive process of data mapping and due diligence, and have been reviewing our current practices to identify any gaps from a GDPR perspective. We have engaged external experts to assist in the work and will implement any necessary changes in accordance with GDPR in advance of its 2018 effective date.

S&P Global’s Customer Privacy Steering Committee (PSC) oversees a global privacy infrastructure that protects the confidentiality of customer information. S&P Global also has an employee privacy policy, which identifies the principles and standards company follows to process personal employee data. These and related policies provide the necessary governance to help ensure that appropriate privacy practices are maintained for all aspects of S&P Global’s businesses and to embed data protection within the organizational structure.

In addition, a group is responsible for ensuring appropriate breach management and reporting as required. Furthermore, S&P Global is subject to PCI DSS (payment card industry data security standard) compliance.
